2016 isn’t so doomed after all! On Nov. 30, Netflix announced that your favorite programming will now be available to download and watch; that means whether you’re on a flight, on an underground subway, or just don’t want to use up your data, you can have your favorite shows with you.
“While many members enjoy watching Netflix at home, we’ve often heard they also want to continue their Stranger Things binge while on airplanes and other places where internet is expensive or limited,” Eddy Wu, Netflix’s director of product innovation, wrote in a press release on Wednesday.
Netflix also tweeted on Nov. 30, “Airplane mode. Road trip mode. Stuck-in-the-subway-for-20-minutes mode. Your favorite stories are now available for download any time.”
The new program is super easy, too — there is a small download button on the titles (image below), and all you have to do is click that; then it will be available later to watch. Netflix also added they will be adding more titles soon to be downloaded, but many are already available including favorites like Supernatural and The Office and Netflix originals Stranger Things, Orange is the New Black, Narcos, and House of Cards, just to name a few.
The new feature is available for Android and iOS phones and tablets; while all plans include it, users will need iOS 8.0 or later or Android 4.4.2 or later as well as the latest update of the app. When you do update, the app will give you a list of what’s available.
Here’s a few suggestions to download now (yes, these are all available):
Chelsea: Chelsea Handler interviews all your favorites, so why not watch them on your train ride in?
The Vampire Diaries: There’s nothing like season one to give you all sorts of feels (and hope for more Nina Dobrev in the near future.)
Bring it On: It’s a must one, so it’s obviously also a must download. Plus, it’s a perfect light hearted flick to avoid any travel stress.
The Late Bloomer: This one will definitely make you LOL and probably tear up — perfect for a plane ride.
Black Mirror: Because you want to know what all your friends are talking about/will be talking about for a long time.
Stranger Things: See above — plus, season two is coming.
Orange is the New Black: I mean, if you haven’t been watching, you’ll want to.
HollywoodLifers, which show will you start with?
