Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were thought to be in the midst of a nasty custody battle. However, Brad is backing off, according to a new report, Nov. 30. Since he ‘was not’ invited to Thanksgiving at Angie’s with the kids, Brad’s taking an entirely different approach to win over his children. Get the reported scoop!
Brad Pitt, 52, checked off “joint custody” on his divorce docs to Angelina Jolie, 41, Nov. 4. This led everyone to believe a nasty custody battle was upon us, since Angie requested sole custody when she filed for divorce Sept. 19. However, now the actor isn’t reportedly pushing for a court hearing just yet. “Brad is giving the kids time. He’s focused on whatever is best for their well-being,” according to Us Weekly, Nov. 30. Brad isn’t pressing for any legal action because, “at this point [in time] the kids wouldn’t want to live with him, and they are of the age when their opinions matter.” And, here’s apparently why…
“The children did not request to be with Brad on Thanksgiving,” the mag reports. Therefore, it doesn’t look like he wants to push a court battle just yet because things could be sensitive. The kids — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 — reportedly spent Thanksgiving away from their father. Angie allegedly kept the kids from him in LA, while he escaped to Turks & Caicos with a close friend. Although it seemed like Brad’s getaway was enjoyable, he was apparently very upset he was away from the kids.
Brad has reportedly decided to give the children their space, since the few visits that they did have under the Department of Child and Family Services were “better.” The actor is allegedly “trying to reconnect” his six kids. Since his short meetings with the children have apparently been positive, he wants to reportedly isn’t pressing anything and letting the children make up their minds. It sounds as though the actor’s actions could be in fear the kids will choose not to live with him when the time comes. It’s a touchy situation, so at least Brad is apparently being cautious.
The latest news in Brad and Angie’s situation is that the actor has been cleared from the FBI and DCFS in two separate alleged child abuse investigations. As far as we know Brad is still aiming for joint custody, while Angie has still got her sights set on sole custody. If this report is true, we’re not sure if there will be an anticipated nasty court battle, or a calm period for the upcoming Christmas holiday.
As far as the holidays go, it is unknown if Brad and Angie will celebrate Christmas together with their six children. While it has only been reported that Brad was apart from his estranged wife and their children over Thanksgiving, there was no sign of them being together. So, hopefully they can put their differences aside to make this an enjoyable Christmas for their entire family.
