The wait is finally over. ‘Gilmore Girls’ hit Netflix on Nov. 25 and we finally found out those final four words! So, what were they? And who said them? WARNING: Major spoilers ahead…
WARNING: If you do not want to know the final four words, stop reading now! You’ve been warned!
Lorelai and Rory are in the middle of Stars Hollow in Fall, the final Gilmore Girls installment; they’re of course, having another one of their talks, inside the gazebo. Lorelai and Luke have just gotten married, and they’re discussing Rory’s recent break up from Paul.
“Mom,” she says to her Lorelai. “Yeah?” she asks. “I’m pregnant.”
So, what does that mean? Well, Rory and Paul (ugh!) had just broken up, and she had been enjoying some extracurricular activities with Logan. Does this mean he’s the father? This is just one of the questions we have… so is that really the end of GG?
“We really had a very specific journey in our minds and we fulfilled the journey. So to us, this is the piece that we wanted to do. And the whole thought about, is there more, is there more, is there more – this has to go out into the universe now,”Amy Sherman-Palladino told The Hollywood Reporter. “And then whatever happens, happens.”
As those who watched the original WB series know, Amy and husband Daniel left the show after season six when their contracts were up; the show continued on for one more season, on the new network, The CW. So, they never got to end the show as they had planned. In 2006, she revealed she knew those final four words… and now, fans finally got the chance to find them out.
Amy also told our sister publication, TVLine that revealing those final words was extremely “personal” for her, her husband, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel. “We talked about how we’re going to stage it and how it’s going to go,” she said. Well, now we get it.
