Richard Spencer is a terrifying man, to say the least. If you don’t already know why you should be afraid of the white nationalist who supports president-elect Donald Trump, we have the the full scoop on him here.
1. He made up the term “alternative right.”
Richard Spencer is a key figure in the “alt-right,” having coined the term for the movement himself. The terrifying movement is made up of ideologies including white nationalism and serious opposition to political correctness.
2. He supports ethnic cleansing.
Richard is described as a white nationalist who advocates for a society of only white people, as he believes they are inherently superior to other races. How despicable.
3. He is the president of the National Policy Institute.
Richard is the head of a think tank called the National Policy Institute, a white supremacist organization that describes itself as “an independent organization dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States, and around the world.”
4. He says that Donald Trump’s campaign legitimized the views of the alt-right.
Richard believes Donald’s campaign helped his movement. “The Trump phenomenon expresses a fundamental truth,” he told Rolling Stone. “It’s an unspoken truth, and that is that the Republican Party has won elections on the basis of implicit nationalism and not on the basis of the Constitution, free-market economics, vague Christian values and so on. Even a leftist would agree with that statement. Like, Trump has shown the hand of the GOP. The GOP is a white person’s populist party.”
5. He was banned from Twitter.
Richard’s, and many other alt-right accounts, were banned from Twitter, in a “purge” he believes was meant to get rid of ideas that Twitter doesn’t agree with. “It’s corporate Stalinism, in the sense that there is a great purge going on and they’re purging people on the basis of their views,” he said in a YouTube video.
