It’s all come down to this. The big news it that Colorado will be without their number one goal keeper Tim Howard, 37, who suffered a season ending groin injury while playing for the U.S. National Men’s Team’s World Cup qualifier against Mexico on Nov. 11. He underwent surgery on Nov. 17 and in his place will be Zac MacMath. The 25-year-old started as goalkeeper in the Rapids’ first 16 games before the team managed to sign Tim away from English Premier League club Everton back in July.
Seattle on the other hand was lucky with their stars who went off to play for their national teams, including midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro (Uruguay), center back Roman Torres (Panama), forward Nelson Valdez (Paraguay) and fullback Joevin Jones (Trinidad and Tobego). All made it back to the Sounders injury free and ready to go against Colorado. Nicolas, 27, has been MVP of the league for the past three months and has been key to the Sounders successful season. In question though is rookie forward Jordan Morris, 22, who is still nursing a hamstring strain.
Seattle cruised into the conference finals over Dallas FC on their 4-2 aggregate goals, while Colorado squeaked past the L.A. Galaxy on penalty kicks after ending up their two legs in a 1-1 tie. This should be an epic match up between the two squads, with the second game coming on Nov. 27. Whichever teams ends up the Western Conference Champs will move on to the MLS Cup Finals Dec. 10 against one of the teams battling it out in the Eastern Conference, the Montreal Impact or Toronto FC.
