Kanye West, 39, was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold by his doctor, Michael Farzam, before 911 was called on him on Nov. 21, TMZ claims. The site reports that Dr. Farzam informed police that ‘Ye attempted assault on a staff member at his gym, and referred to him as a male patient “with mental illness” on the call.
The doctor reportedly said on the call that his patient — “39 years old, 5’8″ and 175 lbs.” — was suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” Once a paramedic arrived and assessed the scene, he dispatched a call to the fire department, calling the situation a “psychiatric emergency.”
It is not confirmed that Kanye actually suffers from a mental illness, or what the exact reason is for his hospitalization. The details around this alleged assault of a staff member have also not been confirmed.
As we previously reported, Dr. Farzam reportedly showed up to Kanye’s trainer, Harley Pasternak’s, house to treat the 39-year-old for extreme exhaustion and sleep deprivation. ‘Ye allegedly resisted his transportation to UCLA Medical Center and had to be handcuffed to the stretcher, which is protocol when one is under a 5150 hold, according to TMZ.
However, the site is now reporting that there’s an issue over whether or not a psychiatric hold was actually placed on the rapper. We will continue to update you with the latest information in this shocking story.
