Taylor Swift Goes Nuts After BFF Selena Gomez’s Comeback AMAs Win — Watch

Selena Gomez was the star of the night at the 2016 American Music Awards, and even though Taylor Swift wasn’t by her side at the show, she made sure to show her support at home. Tay totally freaked out when Sel took home her first AMA — and she shared her epic reaction on Instagram. Watch here!

Taylor Swift, 26, is such a supportive friend! The “Shake It Off” singer was watching the 2016 American Music Awards from her couch on Nov. 20, and she went totally wild when her bestie, Selena Gomez, 24, won the award for Favorite Female Pop/Rock artist over Adele and Rihanna.

It was a HUGE night for the 24-year-old, who made her first public appearance at the award show since announcing she’d be taking time off at the end of August. She looked absolutely stunning in a gorgeous red gown on the carpet, and although she spent most of the show backstage, she surfaced in the audience just before her award was announced. In an Instagram video, Taylor can be heard cheering at the top of her lungs after hearing Sel’s name be called as the winner, and it’s too sweet!

Shockingly, this was Selena’s first win at the American Music Awards — in fact, 2016 was the first year she was ever even nominated! Considering she’s been in rehab for anxiety and out of the spotlight for several months, it was obviously an emotional night for the “Same Old Love” singer, and she had to choke back tears when she took the stage to give her acceptance speech.

Selena was also nominated for Artist of the Year at the show, although she lost out on that one to Ariana Grande. However, it was overall an incredible night and amazing comeback, and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
