Selena looked like a princess in a gorgeous red gown. The AMAs was her first public appearance since canceling her tour and entering rehab. She made an empowering speech when accepting the Favorite Female Artist award. The singer explained the reason why she had to take a break from the spotlight. “I had to stop because I had everything, and I was absolutely broken inside,” she said. She thanked her loyal fans for their constant support through the good times and bad.

It was night of reunions for Niall. The AMAs also put the singer face-to-face with former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik, 23. After revealing they hadn’t spoken in months, Niall went up to Zayn in the audience and shook his hand. So sweet! Unfortunately, Zayn dissed Niall and the rest of 1D when accepting the Favorite New Artist award. Come on, Z! Lighten up!
