Selena Gomez inspired thousands with her American Music Awards comeback and speech on Nov. 20 — and that includes Lady Gaga. Gaga spent time with Sel backstage after the show and raved over the 24-year-old in a sweet Instagram post. See it here!
Lady Gaga, 30, was seen getting emotional in the audience after Selena Gomez, 24, took the stage at the AMAs, and behind the scenes, she made sure to let the “Same Old Love” singer how proud she was of her. “So dope I got to hang with the biggest rockstar of the night (Ya know, besides Sting and Green Day),” she captioned a photo of the pair on Instagram. “The girl with the biggest prize of all a BIG heart that she shares with the world.”
It was Selena’s first public appearances since she removed herself from the spotlight and entered rehab at the end of August, so it was obviously a huge moment for her, and we love that Gaga recognized that. In their photo from backstage, the ladies are sharing a hug, with Sel resting her head on the 30-year-old’s shoulder with a smile on her face.
Selena gave an inspiring speech after winning the award for Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock, and when the camera panned to Gaga in the crowd, she could be seen practically in tears while cheering.
“I was absolutely broken inside and I kept it all together enough where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together, to where I let myself down,” a choked-up Selena said in her acceptance speech. She added, “I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it any more. All I can say, form the bottom of my heart, is that I’m so grateful that I have the opportunity to share what I love, every single day, with people that I love.” Incredible!
