Selena Gomez, 24, showed up to the 2016 American Music Awards in LA on Nov. 20 looking BEYOND fierce! And apparently her alleged ex-fling Niall Horan, 23, took notice! As HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY learned from one of our on-site reporters, Selena and Niall did in fact meet backstage, and they shared quite the adorable moment together as they hugged after his phenomenal performance of “This Town.”

“Selena looked gorgeous and really happy,” our reported told us after Selly hugged her friend. “She congratulated [Niall] in his ‘incredible’ performance. Then her team took her into a dressing room. And they hugged one more time.” Aw! How sweet is THAT? We love how the two could share this big night together — especially after Selena has been out of the spotlight for a while.

For those of you who need a refresher, after a couple of fun, flirty months, late last year, Selena and Niall’s alleged romance quickly cooled off come February of this year. “The reason why everything cooled was because Selena didn’t want to take anything further,” an insider revealed to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY at the time. “Niall really was happy when they hooked up but now realizes it was a drunk hookup night that didn’t do anything more because Selena didn’t want it.”

Aw, poor Niall! Apparently he took the rejection like a champ though as they both realized they were better off as friends anyway — something they reportedly did not want to ruin. “He would have liked it to have been something, but now that time has passed he realizes a relationship with Selena will never happen,” our sour added back in February. “And being her friend is an ok landing spot. He is not heartbroken, just disappointed that it never had the chance to be more.”

But although Niall may have had a thing for Selly in the past, he seems to have moved on since then and is extremely busy with his solo music career. As a performer on the AMAs stage, the singer will even be singing his hit single “This Town” tonight. We can’t wait to watch and swoon!
