There was plenty of presidential-level shade being thrown at the 2016 AMAs, especially after Donald Trump declared war on the cast of ‘Hamilton.’ With Marc Cuban by her side, Idina Menzel mocked Trump’s temper tantrum, warning people to watch out for scary theater people!
“What are you looking forward to next year,” Idina, 45, asked Mark, 58, before they introduced the AMA for best Country Music Duo/Group. Mark, a frequent critic of president elect Donald Trump, 70, said he was looking forward to not being invited to the 2017 Inauguration. Idina felt for Mark, saying she wasn’t going to be there anyway. “Us unsafe, scary theater people wouldn’t be invited anyway. I love you, Hamilton!”
Hilarious! After all, it’s pretty ridiculous that Donald continues to attack the play, after the actors spoke to vice-president elect Mike Pence, 57, when he took in a performance. Trump called the play “overrated,” while voters mocked how he continued to pick a fight with the Broadway spectacular.
That wasn’t the only Trump-bashing going on during the AMAs. Hosts Gigi Hadid, 21, and Jay Pharoah, 29, took turns mocking Trump and future-First Lady Melania Trump, 46, with unflattering impressions. Uh-oh.

It has been one wild year for awards shows and ridiculous shade. If a celeb wasn’t dropping a diss on their fellow stars, they were unintentionally showing off some skin with some unbelievable wardrobe malfunctions. Take Halsey, 21, for instance. The sexy singer who made The Chainsmokers performance at the 2016 MTV VMAs the highlight of the night got the sexy party started on the red carpet. In a sheer, sequined jumpsuit, she gave more than just a peep show as she flashed her bare nipples! Yikes!
Wardrobe malfunctions can happen to anyone, but those are accidents. Kanye West’s diss on Taylor Swift, 26, during the 2016 MTV VMAs was purely intentional. Long before the 39-year-old rapper caused #KanyeIsOverParty to trend worldwide (due to his rant about Jay Z, 46, and Beyonce, 35) he threw some shade at Taylor over the whole “Famous” controversy. Yeezy claimed he actually “loved” Taylor, which is why he called her to inform her about the lyrics before the sound dropped. At least Kanye managed to show up to the show. Justin Bieber, 22, trashed the Billboard Music Awards online, calling the whole event “pointless” and “hollow.”
What a year for disses, malfunctions and award show drama, HollywoodLifers. Can you believe Idinia took shots at Donald Trump during the AMAs?
