OMG! If you caught ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Nov. 17, you were probably in tears as the show shockingly killed off a beloved character. But that star revealed this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him/her during a surprise stop by ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live.’ Warning: major spoiler ahead!
We totally did NOT see this coming! HTGAWM‘s winter finale was a heartbreaker, as we found out it was Wes Gibbins who died in the blast at Annalise’s house. We got the horrific news when a sheet at a medical examiner’s office was pulled off to reveal his badly burned and very dead body. But don’t worry, this isn’t the end for his beloved character!
Of course this had to be devastating to Alfred Enoch, the 27-year-old Brit who played Wes since the very first episode of the show. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss his tragic ending, and told us even though he’s dead, he’s still going to be on the show for the rest of season three in flashbacks. “We’ve got to find out what happened to Wes,” he joked!

The adorable charmer said that everyone was on pins and needles all season waiting to see who was getting killed off. “It was bizarre. We knew someone was going to die from the beginning of the season, so we’re all hypothesizing about who it’s going to be. Aja (King) tried nicely to prove how it couldn’t be Wes,” he revealed. Unfortunately, his castmate was wrong!
“Then I got a call from the showrunner’s assistant saying ‘could you come in and meet Pete (Nowalk).’ She sounded a bit sad on the voicemail,” so he knew his time was up. After meeting with him and finding out that Wes was the one who died in the season’s premiere, he joked about how he broke the news to the rest of the cast. “Good news everyone, you’re safe. It’s me, I took the fall. It was like being on a reality TV show. Every week you find out someone is safe or seems to be safe.”
Just to recap, at the start of the season we saw Annalise’s burned down house and found out a character had died inside. Every episode since has worked towards that moment, showing a scene from the present timeline at the end of each show, revealing who was not dead. We saw Wes talking to the police just a few weeks ago, so we thought he’d survived! We’re so bummed he’s gone but at least we’ll have him around in flashbacks for the rest of season three to find out how he met his untimely demise.
HollywoodLifers, are you shocked that the show killed off Wes?
