Groot was the breakout character in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ and fans have been begging to find out how Groot will be in the sequel after the events of the first movie. Vin Diesel reveals that baby Groot will be very different in the sequel, but he’ll be super ‘goofy’ and ‘adorable.’ Aw!
“There is a difference,” Vin, 49, told Collider about his tree-like creature character. “He couldn’t be more naive as baby Groot. I always think of the Groot that we saw in the first Guardians as a college level Groot. He’s not fully grown yet, but he’s a man. Once he sacrifices himself at the end of the movie, now he has to start all over, so to speak. So we’re going to see this goofy, adorable, baby Groot thing running around the screen. Just kinda learning as he goes. I think people are going to love this movie.”
Baby Groot already sounds perfect! At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, which was released in 2015, Groot sacrifices himself to save Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and the rest of the gang from Ronan’s ship by protecting them in a wooden ball grown from himself. Thankfully, Rocket (Bradley Cooper) recovers a twig from Groot, which begins to grow into a miniature Groot.
Fans got to see the all-new baby Groot in action in the first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel. In the final seconds of the trailer, baby Groot is perched on Rocket’s shoulder, ready to cause some trouble.
Don’t you just want to take baby Groot home with you?! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released in theaters on May 5, 2017.
