Don’t mess with Jared Kushner! New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was unceremoniously removed from President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, and a Nov. 17 report says political experts believe it’s because Christie convicted Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law back in 2004. Get all of the details here!
Jared Kushner has voted Chris Christie off Trump Island, and it’s all because Christie put his father Charles Kushner in jail, CNN reports. The outlet explains that Jared wields “tremendous influence behind the scenes”, and that “the sacking of Christie was at least partly an act of personal payback”. A little ominous, no?
In 2004, Christie, who was a U.S. Attorney at the time, convicted Jared’s father on multiple charges including tax evasion, illegal campaign contributions and witness tampering. He was sentenced to two years in prison, and Christie wrote that he considered the elder Kushner’s actions to be “fiendish”. Jared, who is currently married to First Daughter-to-be Ivanka Trump, reportedly visited Charles while he did his time, and called his dad’s arrest “obviously unjust”.

Long story short: now that Jared is serving as one of Donald Trump‘s central advisors, political insiders believe that Kushner is at least partially behind the decision to remove Christie. “There are people who are in and people who are out,” former Congressman Mike Rogers claimed to CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Nov. 15. “And the people who have been asked to move on have some relationship with Chris Christie.”
Talk about a power move!
