Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis officially have a name picked out for their unborn son! But before they landed on ‘the one,’ Ashton tried to convince Mila of a different name, which apparently did NOT go over well! In a recent interview, the actor, who’s still a fan of his choice, revealed Mila immediately shot it down — yikes! Watch him discuss the hilarious name here.
Naming their two-year-old daughter Wyatt, Mila Kunis, 33, and Ashton Kutcher, 38, are no strangers to picking unique names. But Ashton seemed to have gone TOO far when he suggested to his wife that they should name their baby son, who’s set to be born this month, Hawkeye Kutcher. And yes, he was serious!
“There was a rallying cry from a collective that believed in the name Hawkeye,” Ashton explained to Conan O’Brien on the Nov. 16 episode of Conan. “I’m an Iowan, so to have a kid named Hawkeye?” In Ashton’s defense, not only is he a diehard Iowa fan, but the name Hawkeye also shows his love for a classic TV show.
“It’s like M.A.S.H.! Like, he could be a doctor!” Ashton exclaimed. He was referring to Benjamin “Hawkeye” Pierce, a character played by Donald Sutherland in the 1970 film and Alan Alda in the TV series. And let’s not forget Hawkeye from The Avengers either!
But of course, whatever Mila says goes, and according to Ashton, Hawkeye “didn’t fly” with his wife. “It didn’t cross the Mila threshold,” Ashton revealed. “It came to the threshold, but then it got knocked down.” But now that Hawkeye is officially off the table, what WILL the expectant parents name their second child?
“We have a name dialed in that we’ve had for a while,” Ashton dished to Conan. “But the problem is, if you get the name too soon, suddenly there’s like slight trepidation about the name. The other day, Mila was like, ‘So, you still like the name?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ And she was like, ‘Why was it the high pitch yeah? Why wasn’t it the low pitch yeah?’ Then I was like, ‘Well, you like the name, right?’ She was like, ‘Yeah.’ Like, ‘Why did you say it like that?'”
But all kidding aside, Ashton concluded that “We both love the name! So, I think we have a name.” Aw! We can’t wait to find out what that is! What we do know though is that they won’t be naming their son after any bullies! “You don’t want names of people that remind you of people who used to beat you up,” he explained. “That’s not good. It has to be some egregious thing where they were really a jerk.” We totally agree!
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — what do YOU think of Ashton’s name choice? Do you think they’ll end up choosing something just as unique?
