It’s all about balance! Kendall Jenner deleted her Instagram account only a few days ago, but for a very good reason! While stopping by ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ on Nov. 16, she revealed that she finds it ‘refreshing,’ urging everyone to take a social media ‘detox!’ Get the details!
Kendall Jenner, 21, made headlines for shutting down her active Instagram account featuring 68 million followers, without giving her fans any notice. Luckily, the supermodel dished about why she decided to take a break from social media while stopping The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Nov. 16. “I would wake up in the morning and I would look at it first thing. I would go to bed and it was the last thing that I would look at,” she said. “I felt a little too dependent on it, so I kinda wanted to take a minute. It’s a detox. I’ll be back.” It’s been a whopping four days since she parted ways with the app, but she admitted the withdrawals are already coming!
Kendall explained how she wasn’t prepared for the crazy response to her Instagram account going MIA on Nov. 12. CNN even covered the story, prompting her to say, “I honestly didn’t think anyone would care… I also took my Twitter off my phone. I didn’t delete it entirely, but I took the app off my phone.” Despite how others feel about her choice to keep away from the public eye, she’s doing it for her own happiness. Kenny noted, “I kind of love it. I find myself going to click on Instagram and it won’t be there. It’s really nice. I suggest it,” she told the audience. “I’m away from my phone so much more. You start to engage in real life and how you have to deal with real people right in front of you, so it’s kind of really nice to be away from it even if it’s just Instagram.”
We could have seen this coming, since she previously voiced how she likes to take a break from time to time. “I definitely have close friends, and even some family members, who are so connected to their phone and can’t get off of it,” she told Allure, explaining how people often become obsessed with their likes and followers. “That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple of days.”
