Chile has some good news going into this match. They were held to a scoreless draw against Colombia on Nov. 10, but they were without Alexis Sanchez, per Sky Sports. The 27-year-old was out of the game due to a “low-grade muscle injury,” but he’s recovered in time for this match. He won’t be the only player making a triumphant return, as goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, 33, and Midfielder Arturo Vidal, 29 are also coming off the bench due to a range of injuries.
Though, some aren’t too thrilled to see Alexis hit the field. When he’s not playing for his native country’s national team, he’s fighting for Arsene Wegner’s, 67, squad, Arsenal. Claiming he received text saying that Alexis had a hamstring injury, Arsene warned Chile’s coach Juan Antonio Pizzi, 48, to not make any drastic decisions.
“That is absolutely important. It’s a grey area between the national team and the club team and of course they look at their own results which I can understand,” Arsene said ahead of this game, according to The Guardian, “but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sánchez.”
World cup glory or the Premier League championship? Yikes. It’s hard to choose and if Alexis returns to Arsenal with a torn hamstring, fans can bet that Arsene will be furious. While Chile is hoping for a victory, perhaps everyone should cross their fingers and pray Alexis comes out of this match in one piece?
