Police are investigating the death of an unidentified woman who was found dead inside her CT home, Nov. 14, according to ABC7 News NY. This report comes after authorities discovered the woman’s daughter, 5, was abandoned at Port Authority bus terminal in NY. This is so sad.
The site is reporting that police said the 5-year-old young girl took a bus to Port Authority from CT, with a man by the name of Elmer Gomez Ruono, 32, a Guatemalan native. Police reportedly believe this man could be her father, and he is apparently a person of interest in the death of the unidentified woman. Authorities are said to still be on the hunt for the man, who they allegedly captured on surveillance camera. His reported photo can be seen in the video below.
The reported homicide occured in Stamford, CT. Just before 10 AM, on the morning of Nov. 14, commuters inside the bus terminal allegedly noticed the child was alone, and notified police. “She speaks mostly Spanish,” ABC 7 said Stamford Police Captain Richard Conklin revealed. “And due to her age, there’s some complications about interviewing her at that age without a guardian so we’re working on that at this point.”
When police reportedly interviewed the girl she told them the man was her father and he told her to wait for him. However, he never returned. Our hearts our breaking for this small child. The site reports that the 5-year-old girl was able to lead authorities to her parents’ apartment in CT, where she and her mother supposedly moved in recently from NJ. The mother and daughter were reportedly moving in with Elmer, who was already living in Stamford with roommates, according to the news station.
The investigation is reportedly under way, and the mother’s cause of death is allegedly unclear. Police are also unsure if the child witnessed any harm that could have been done. Police Captain Conklin told the site that the apartment showed signs of struggle. An autopsy will be performed Nov. 15 , according to ABC7.
The 5-year-old child is reportedly out of police custody, and is now with the CT Department of Children and Families.
