As one of four celebrities who received Glamour’s Women of the Year title in 2016, Gwen Stefani, 47, took the stage at the powerful event in Los Angeles to give a powerful and inspiring speech, but it was the conclusion that really touched us the most. Of course, that was mostly because there was an adorable mention of her boyfriend, Blake Shelton!
“I just want to say thank you to my parents for that gift of faith. I want to say thank you to everyone who ever listened to my music,” she told the crowd, choking back tears. “I am so honored and grateful. To my children, to my family, to Blake Shelton for kissing me back to life, thank you so much. I am blown away, I’m blown away by this room of unbelievable courage. It’s unbelievable to be here tonight.”
In the rest of her speech, the 47-year-old dished about how music and faith saved her a year and a half ago when she divorced her husband, Gavin Rossdale. She also pointed out that she never dreamed she’d be on that stage accepting such an honor, and sent an inspiring message to the young girls in the crowd that it could just as easily be them getting that opportunity next.
Meanwhile, Blake as in the crowd, beaming at his gal as she said her piece. The best part? He filmed The Voice live RIGHT before the event went down, and rushed over to be by Gwen’s side for the special moment. Best boyfriend EVER?! YEP!
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of Gwen’s Women of the Year speech? Were you surprised she thanked Blake?
