Talk about a tell all. Carrie Fisher’s new autobiographical book, ‘The Princess Diarist,’ is set to come out on November 22, and in it, she reveals a huge secret: she had an affair with Harrison Ford in 1976, while they were filming the first ‘Star Wars’ film.
Han Solo and Princess Leia fans, your dreams have come true: Carrie Fisher revealed that after a birthday party for creator George Lucas, she shared a kiss with her co-star Harrison Ford — a kiss that led two a three-month affair.
Carrie was only 19 at the time, while Harrison was 33, but while she was “so inexperienced,” she felt comfortable with him since she “trusted something about him,” she wrote in her new book, revealed in an excerpt in People magazine. The book includes excerpts from her personal diaries that she had during the set of the film in London.
“It was so intense,” she said about the real-life romance going on behind the scenes. “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.” She reflected after their first rendezvous, as well. “I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow,” she wrote. “How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”
At the time, Harrison was married to his first wife, Mary Marquardt, with whom he had two sons with — they were living back home in LA at the time. Following the film’s 1976 wrap, he went back to her, but the two divorced years later. However, Carrie did give Harrison a heads up before publishing the book. At first, he sarcastically said, “Lawyer!”
“I called him and said, ‘Where are you? I’m sending it to you,'” she said. “I don’t want to embarrass anyone and he’s very private. I said, ‘I know you’re not going to be excited but…'” So hey, at least he knew! So, Are you shocked about the affair, HollywoodLIfers?
