1. Google Play Music collects data from your phone to make custom playlists
It’s a little invasive, but it’s not spying on your every move. Basically, the app looks at your calendars, e-mail, maps and a motion sensor on your phone to determine where you are, and what what you may feel like listening to while you’re there.
2. It knows your mood
Hitting up the gym obviously puts you in a different mood than the commute to work! Its AI is aimed at “making people feel how they want to feel” with crazy-smart playlists like “Monday Motivation” and “Working to a Beat”. It also knows something called characteristic popularity, meaning it knows what the people around you are listening to, and suggests that music.
3. It’s completely free
You can access Google Play Music for free if you allow advertisements! But if you want the suped-up, ad-free version, you’ll have to pay $9.99 a month. Paying for the service also allows you to access your music offline, and access YouTube Red for free.
4. You can add your own music
Users have the ability to add 50,000 songs from your own collection to your Google Play library. Seriously! It’s compatible with song from your iTunes library, as well. So upload away and play on your computer.
5. You can buy music through Google Play Music
Much like iTunes, users can buy songs and albums and add to their music libraries. There’s a fabulous selection of new music and old to choose from. You’ll never get sick of your choices!
