‘The Simpsons’ have a tendency to be right about a lot of things, but sometimes, they’re right about things we wish they weren’t. In 2000, the TV show predicted a disastrous Trump presidency… and here we are.
The creators of The Simpsons developed a disturbing prediction in 2000 that has since become reality — a Donald Trump presidency. They have since expressed their sadness over their accurate prediction with Bart Simpson writing a chalkboard over and over, “Being Right Sucks.”

The premonitory episode, titled “Bart To The Future,” takes place in 2030, where Lisa Simpson has taken over as president following a Trump Administration. The oceans are empty, debt has increased — the government was in shambles.
“It was a warning to America,” the episode’s writer, Dan Greaney said according to the Hollywood Reporter, on Wednesday, after Trump was declared the president-elect.”And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane.”
In a clip of the episode, Lisa can be seen in the ‘Oval Office’ discussing the rapidly declining state of the country following Trump’s exit. “As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump,” she says, “How bad is it? The country is broke? How can it be?”
An aide responds, “[The mistake was] investing in our nation’s children…The balanced breakfast program just created a generation of ultra-strong super-criminals. And the midnight basketball just taught them to function without sleep.”
Greany said that the issues that remained after the Trump presidency were meant to be ludicrous, because that’s exactly what a Trump presidency would be. “What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that’s why we had Trump be president before her,” he said.
Well, we can only hope that the problems Lisa was left to deal with will be nothing like the aftermath of our real-life Trump Administration. If so, we’ll need a real-life Lisa Simpson to save the day!
