This is SO touching. Luke Perry caught up with the cast of ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ for a star-studded reunion on Nov. 12 and paid a loving tribute to Shannen Doherty. Talking of the hit show’s success and their bond as a group, he revealed they ‘wouldn’t be here without her.’
Friends forever! It was a momentous occasion when the majority of the original Beverly Hills, 90210 cast joined together for a reunion 20 years later on Nov. 12. Luke Perry was one of the stars who attended REWind Con in Chicago, Illinois, for the hour-long panel moderated by HollywoodLife.com. The actor expressed his gratefulness for the experience, but noted how one very special person was missing that evening, Shannen Doherty. Luke said, “None of us are up here today without Shannen,” who is battling breast cancer for the second time. “She’s been through a lot. She’s not doing well right now but sometimes her contributions are minimized.”
to my soul sister @theshando strongest lady i've ever known. then and now. i used to be threatened by your spirit, now i'm in awe of it. you've taught me a lot about speaking my mind and not being afraid of my power. i'm so grateful that young me got to be friends with you. but especially "old" me! the best is yet to come on this crazy journey!! love you! #fightlikeagirl #fightlikebrenda #aries
Luke continued, “She’s been thrown under the bus. I’ve been accused of driving it. But she’s a very big part of the success of this show. She taught me a lot. I’m glad she was my scene partner. She was great at what she did in the character with me.” He even admitted his favorite couple on the show was Dylan and Brenda, which was of course played by him and Shannen. The cast was definitely feeling some deja-vu, since Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris, Vincent Young, Christine Elise and James Eckhouse were all present.
Shannen’s co-star Jennie also showed her gal pal some major support via social media. She posted an adorable and inspiring pic that read, “Fight Like a Brenda.” Jennie captioned the image, “To my soul sister @theshando strongest lady I’ve ever known. then and now/ I used to be threatened by your spirit, now I’m in awe of it. you’ve taught me a lot about speaking my mind and not being afraid of my power. I’m so grateful that young me got to be friends with you. but especially ‘old’ me! the best is yet to come on this crazy journey!! love you! #fightlikeagirl.”
