Auburn is fighting for a spot in the NCAA playoffs and is looking to keep their hopes alive with a win against Georgia. While no one can touch top ranked and undefeated Alabama right now, the Tigers are fighting to stay in second place in the SEC with their 7-2 record. Can they notch up another victory in between the hedges of Sanford Stadium in front of a sea of barking Bulldogs fans? The Tigers are looking for their seventh straight win in a row, and they could easily get it, as all four of UGA’s losses this season have been to SEC rivals. The Dawgs don’t want to go 0-5 in the conference, and will need the help of their hometown red and black fans to rally them to victory.
Auburn will likely be without their standout running back Kamryn Pettway, after the sophomore injured his leg on a 60-yard run against Vanderbilt Nov. 5. He’ll be traveling with the team to Athens, but whether or not he sees play is another story. “He’s been in the training room all week,” head coach Gus Malzahn said on Tiger Talk Nov. 10. “He has improved. He’s been out there at practice, has not practiced yet, but he’ll make the trip with us.”
All we know is that he “pulled something,” as that’s all the team has revealed. “He’s a tough guy and he heals quick too,” Gus added. They’re really going to be in a world of hurt without Kamryn, as he’s currently the SEC’s top rusher with 1,106 yards and seven TD’s. Auburn’s going to need him as they hit up the Dawgs, as he’s ran for over 150 yards in his last four games. That’s some serious firepower! Quarterback Sean White will get the start leading the offense, despite not being 100 percent because of a shoulder injury.
