It’s no secret that Trevor Noah is NOT a fan of Donald Trump — and he was absolutely baffled that President Obama was able to welcome the president-elect to the White House so cordially on Nov. 10. Watch his rant about the whole ordeal here!
“That is one hell of a performance,” Trevor Noah said of President Obama and Donald Trump’s meeting one day after the latter was elected president. “Especially by President Obama, which means at least one black person should get nominated for an Oscar this year.” Of course, he was also referring to the outrage that erupted around last year’s Academy Awards for the lack of diversity in the nominations.
It’s a tradition that the President welcome the president-elect to the White House to begin the transition process, but the Daily Show host found it incredibly hard to watch this time around. “I know it has to happen, but does it have to happen so quickly?” he asked. “It’s like if your dad dies and then your mom starts dating at the funeral, you’re like, ‘Come on! Just give me time to get used to it!'”
He went on to say that our process for electing a president is “backward” because the process takes two years, but then the person who’s elected starts just ten weeks after Election Day! “You just meet the guy, sign the thing, and, alright, don’t f*** it up!” he joked.
Despite everything that President Obama and Donald have said about each other in the past, they put their differences aside and did really seem to have a cordial meeting. The President confirmed that they had an “excellent” discussion about foreign and domestic policy, and at the same time, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump also had time to meet and chat. What a day!
