Donald Trump… willing to compromise?! The controversial President-Elect must have been affected by his meeting with President Obama on Nov. 10, because after he left he admitted he would be willing to keep some of Obama’s healthcare plan in tact! Here’s the scoop.
Donald Trump, 70, sat down for a meeting with Barack Obama, 55, at the White House on Nov. 10, and while the pics make it look like the two aren’t really pleased to be near each other, Donald seems to have actually taken something away from their conversation.
After the meeting, Donald told the Wall Street Journal that he might actually be keeping some of the Obamacare plan, which is totally shocking considering much of his campaign was centered around promising to repeal it. However, his tune changed on Nov. 10. “Either Obamacare will be amended, or repealed and replaced,” he said.
So what happens if he doesn’t repeal it, and chooses to amend instead? He told the WSJ that he’s fond of the two main points of Obama’s plan: the ban on insurers denying coverage for pre-existing conditions and allowing young adults to stay on their parent’s insurance plans. “I like those very much,” he said.
Barack apparently offered him a lot of information about the plan, and Donald was actually willing to listen. “I told him I will look at his suggestions, and out of respect, I will do that,” said Donald. We hope that he’s being genuine about that, because throughout his campaign, he called the health care act “a total disaster” and “a catastrophe.”
Donald has said a lot of things about Barack, not the least of which was his ridiculous Birther movement, but ow he’s changed his tune. In a tweet after the momentous meeting, he said he had “a fantastic day in D.C. Met with President Obama for first time. Really good meeting, great chemistry. Melania liked Mrs. O a lot!” Fingers crossed that this is a new side of Donald.
