Warning: if you haven’t yet seen the penultimate episode of ‘American Horror Story: Roanoke,’ and don’t want to find out who the last one standing was, don’t keep reading!
“Equally rivaled and celebrated, she is one of the most provocative and polarizing figures of our time,” Sarah Paulson‘s Lana Winters says in the new trailer for the finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke. “Lee Harris has agreed to an interview live on television. Welcome to the Lana Winters special.”
Now in the penultimate episode, we found out that Lee (Adina Porter) was the last one standing following the blood moon taking over Roanoke county — she was turned into the new butcher for a brief time, killing Monet (Angela Bassett) and nearly killing Audrey (Sarah Paulson). However, after the blood moon ended, Lee was Lee again, and Audrey was killed by police when she tried to shoot Lee.
Needless to say, this season has been so full of twists and turns that we don’t even know what the finale could possibly bring. However it’s nice to see that Lana is back, as she was the reporter who got way too involved in Asylum. Sarah has of course been on every single season of American Horror Story, and has survived(ish) each. She played Billie Dean Howard in Murder House, Lana in Asylum, Cordelia Foxx in Coven, Bette and Dot in Freak Show, and Hypodermic Sally in Hotel.
Well we know that Ryan Murphy was not holding back at all this time around. “It kind of was and is a commentary on social reality television because I do feel like that is the next level where something really bad is, somebody’s going to die for the sake of real TV,” he told E! previously about this season’s twist.
