Lin-Manuel Miranda is still proud to be an American. Lin is definitely staying in the United States, even though Donald Trump was elected the new President of the United States. The ‘Hamilton’ star revealed the very important reason why he won’t be moving to Canada.
Lin-Manuel, 36, responded to a fan’s tweet that said, “I bet @LinManuel is moving to Canada.” The Hamilton creator quickly tweeted that a move to Canada was not happening in the foreseeable future. “F*ck that,” he tweeted. “I love this country, and there’s more work to do than ever. (No offense Canada)”
Lin-Manuel is a avid Hillary Clinton, 69, supporter, and he’s undoubtedly heartbroken that the possibility of the first female president was struck down because of Donald, 70. Lin-Manuel is so right. Regardless of who won the election, there is still more work to do than ever in America.
“This year, I’m trying to wrap my head around both outcomes,” Lin-Manuel also tweeted. “Scared as y’all. But we’ll get through it. Grateful for friends. For you.” His final tweet of the night read, “Go through all stages tonight. You are allowed to feel however you like. Take stock of your heart. See you tomorrow. We are all still here.”
Before Donald was even elected, dozens of stars vowed to leave the country if he became the next President of the United States. Those celebrities included Miley Cyrus, 23, Amy Schumer, 35, Bryan Cranston, 60, Chelsea Handler, 41, Cher, 70, Samuel L. Jackson, 67, and more. There’s no word yet if these stars will make good on their word and actually leave the United States, but it wouldn’t surprise anyone. Who would have thought Donald Trump, the former host of The Apprentice and the man who’s been accused of allegedly assaulting women, would really be elected the 45th President of the United States?
