Donald Trump has found a major support system in former KKK leader David Duke. The ex-Ku Klux Klan member took to Twitter following Trump’s presidential victory to reveal just how thrilled he is over the results, even calling it ‘one of the most exciting nights’ of his life.
“GOD BLESS DONALD TRUMP! It’s time to do the right thing, it’s time to TAKE AMERICA BACK,” David Duke tweeted after learning the 70-year-old had been named the next president elect of the United States. “This is one of the most exciting nights of my life. Make no mistake about it, our people have played a HUGE role in electing Trump! Donald J. Trump now has the chance to become one of the greatest Americans to have ever lived — we have the moral high ground, 100%!”
Although Donald has distanced himself from the KKK’s support recently, he was highly criticized at the beginning of 2016 for not flat-out disavowing Duke, the Ku Klux Klan and more white supremacist groups who endorsed him. Instead, he simply said, “I don’t know anything about what you’re even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don’t know. I don’t know — did he endorse me, or what’s going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke; I know nothing about white supremacists.”
He eventually did disavow the American nationalist, but the damage had been done. Meanwhile, Donald’s son, Eric, recently made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with David, saying that he “deserves a bullet.”
Hillary Clinton, 69, called Donald to officially concede in the election just before 3:00 a.m. ET on Nov. 9. He took the stage at his victory party in New York City shortly after and, of course, promised once more that he’ll ‘make American great again’ as president.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of this ex-KKK leader throwing so much support behind Trump? Is that worrisome to you guys?
