Nearly two months after Angelina Jolie filed for sole custody of their six children, Brad Pitt is reportedly now asking for joint custody. Brad is willing to fight ’til the bitter end to get equal time with his kids, according to a new report!
Brad Pitt, 52, reportedly filed for joint legal and physical custody of his six children on November 4, in response to estranged wife Angelina Jolie‘s decision to file for divorce and sole physical custody on September 19. This apparently isn’t normal protocol when it comes to high-profile divorce cases, according to Los Angeles divorce attorney Christopher C. Melcher, who spoke to Us Weekly.
“Normally the parties will settle, then file a response,” Christopher told Us. “It could signal negotiations [between Brad and Angelina] are breaking down.”
Brad allegedly didn’t want things between himself and the mother of his children to come to this. They’re devoted to raising Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. But with the prospect of losing custody still looming large, Brad reportedly feels like he has to pull out the big guns.
“[Brad] didn’t want to go down this road,” a source told Us Weekly. “But he’ll fight for his kids. Once. Once Brad is officially cleared [from his alleged child abuse charges] he is going to fight her hard, until the bitter end. Brad has had enough. He’s always made it clear he wanted joint custody.”
There’s a snag in his plan for the time being: those alleged abuse charges. Brad is still being investigated by the Department of Child and Family Services because of an alleged incident that occurred shortly before Angelina filed for divorce. Brad has been accused of allegedly striking eldest son Maddox during an altercation on their plane. It’s unclear when the investigation will end.
Brad reportedly hasn’t seen his kids since Angelina filed for divorce in September, and is incredibly distraught! It’s been such a long time! If Angelina’s custody demands are met, Brad will be granted supervised visits with the kids. Not close to what he wants, but still the chance to see his children. It’s clear with this new development that this battle is far from over.
