Anthony Rizzo, 27, was one of four players from the World Series champs to be named finalists for the 2016 Gold Glove, according to USA Today. The first baseman, along with right fielder Jason Heyward, 27, were the only Chicago players to win, while shortstop Addison Russell, 22, and pitcher Jake Arrietta, 30, were also nominated. These two can put their awards right next to the 2016 World Series trophy. Nice.
Though the Cleveland Indians failed to take home the World Series, their shortstop, Francisco Lindor, 22, can feel great knowing that he’s a 2016 Gold Glove winner. He was one of the nine first-time winners, as five Gold Glove players came from the American League.
The Cubs tied with the Detroit Tigers for the most finalists. Plus, eight teams featured at least three finalists – including the Kansas City Royals, the 2015 World Series winners. Overall, 54 players were nominated.

The major big shock of this round of winners is that Buster Posey, 29, of the San Francisco Giants won the Gold Glove over Yadier Molina, 34, of the St. Louis Cardinals, effectively snapping Yadier’s eight-year run as the top catcher of the National League. Oh well. There’s always next year. Congratulations to all the player who won!
