It’s official: We’re going to see Albus Dumbledore again. ‘Fantastic Beasts’ director David Yates confirmed that a young Dumbledore will be seen in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ sequel, and now we’re having so many thoughts on who should play him. Check out our picks and cast your vote!
“In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt…” David said at a roundtable for the film, according to Screen Rant. “We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good!”
Well, HollywoodLife.com has some suggestions! After a lot of thought, we’ve come up with a list of a few actors who could do the role justice: Michael Fassbender, 39; Jude Law, 43; Benedict Cumberbatch, 40; Damian Lewis, 45; Clive Owen, 52; Joel Edgerton, 42; and Christian Bale, 42. All of these actors would be great alongside Eddie Redmayne’s Newt and Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald.
This is the biggest role to cast in the Harry Potter universe since Harry Potter! Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore up until his death, and Michael Gambon, 76, brought the beloved character to live on the big screen. It’s going to take one heck of an actor to play the young version of Dumbledore.
Dumbledore showing up in the future Fantastic Beasts movies isn’t a huge shock. Since Grindelwald is going to have a much bigger role in the movies going forward, that means Dumbledore will too. Dumbledore and Grindelwald became friends after meeting at Godric’s Hollow, but their friendship crumbled after they were involved in a duel with Aberforth Dumbledore that ended in Ariana Dumbledore’s death.
Grindelwald went on to become one of the most dangerous Dark Wizards of all time. We can’t wait to see Dumbledore and Grindelwald come face-to-face on the big screen again. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters November 18.
