Comedian Bill Maher comes out swinging at Donald Trump at the New York comedy festival and supports the “boring” campaign of Hillary Clinton.
Legendary comedian and HBO’s Real Time host Bill Maher, 60, is known for his controversial views on everything from religion (he’s against it) to Ben Affleck (he’s against it.) And he’s not pulling his punches when it comes to the presidential candidates either.
Bill headlined the 2016 New York Comedy Festival and capped the week’s events at Madison Square Garden’s Amphitheater on Nov. 6 where he slammed Donald Trump, who he calls a “dangerous lunatic”. Bill pleaded with his audience to get out and vote for Hillary Clinton – even though he admits she doesn’t give Democrats much to root for.
“She’s not a great candidate,” he jokes. “She campaigns like a hospice nurse and laughs like she’s trying to give Snow White an apple.”
Misgivings aside, Bill says this is NOT a vote about the lesser of two evils. Of Hillary’s supposed private email server scandal he says, “We hacked her – and she’s still boring!”
Only hours after Bill dropped the mic on the election 2016, FBI director James Comey released a statement revealing that nothing incriminating had been found in the latest dive into Hillary’s email server.
Bill also had harsh words for other prominent conservatives, and blames the entire Trump phenomenon on the 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain: “There is no Trump without Sarah Palin. John McCain opened the book of the dead and let the monsters out.”
Also confusing for the comedian is the persistent criticism of President Obama from white working class voters: “Obama is one of you,” he jokes, “He IS a white man. He wears mom jeans and is about to lose his job to a woman!”
Pause for laughter.
Bill also touched on one of his classic hobby horses – the legalization of pot, with a message to the kids of America: “You DO NOT need drugs to have a good time!… But why risk it?”
