Election Night 2016 is just one day away, and we’re all going to need a strong drink to get through the poll results. Here are the best patriotic recipes to try — after you’ve voted, of course!
Will the next President of the United States be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton? We’ll know by the end of tomorrow, Nov. 8, but either way, we deserve a drink. Enjoy!
The Best Martini, created by Dustin Olson for Boulton & Watt
2 oz. Russian Standard Vodka
0.75 oz. White Vermouth (Dolin Blanc)
0.25 oz. Goldschlager
2 ds. Orange Bitters
Laphroaig© Select Penicillin
2 parts Laphroaig© Select Single Malt Scotch Whisky
3⁄4 parts Fresh Lemon Juice
3⁄4 parts Honey Syrup*
3 Slices Fresh Ginger
Using a wooden muddler or mixing spoon, muddle the fresh ginger in the bottom of a cocktail shaker until it is well mashed. Add the Laphroaig Select, lemon juice, and honey syrup, and fill shaker with ice. Shake until well chilled, about 20 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with one large ice cube.
*For the honey syrup, bring equal parts of honey and water to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool before using, and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
1 part Pinnacle® Citrus Vodka
1 part DeKuyper® Blue Curacao Liqueur
2 parts Lemon Soda
1 part Grenadine
Lemon for garnish
Blueberries for garnish
Mint Sprig for garnish
Lightly mix the vodka and lemon soda in a cocktail shaker with ice and set aside. In a tall glass, add the grenadine slowly to the bottom. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Strain the vodka soda mixture over the back of a bar spoon, followed by the blue curacao. Garnish with fresh mint, lemon rind star and berries (optional).
1.5 cups SMIRNOFF™ Red, White & Berry
3 cups pink lemonade
Strawberry and lemon garnish
In a punch bowl or pitcher, stir 1.5 cups (1 part) SMIRNOFF™ Red, White & Berry with 3 cups (2 parts) pink lemonade. Stir in strawberries and lemon wedges. Pour and garnish with strawberry and lemon. Serves 6.
The Red Rider
3 oz Cachaca 51
4 dashes angostura bitters
1 oz lime juice
½ tablespoon of honey
1 ½ oz of Cachaça 51
1 sliced small lime
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 dash of Blue Curacao
Patriotic Sangria, created by celebrity caterer Andrea Correale, the Founder and President of Elegant Affairs
1 bottle dry white wine (chardonnay works well)
2 cups (1 pint) fresh blueberries
1 cup fresh raspberries
1 cup apple juice (or white grape juice)
1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 bottle champagne (or any variety of sparkling white wine)
3-4 Granny Smith apples
Stir together white wine, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and apple juice together in a large pitcher. Cover and refrigerate for 1-4 hours, so that the flavors can meld. When you’re ready to serve the sangria, gradually stir in the champagne and apples and ice.
1 Part Reisling
1 Part Pomegranate Blueberry Sparking Ice
Mix all in a pitcher, pour into wine glasses, and add a mint leaf garnish.
SVEDKA’s Americana Cocktail
1¾ parts SVEDKA Vodka
¾ part lemonade
½ part triple sec
1 part cranberry juice
Juice of 6 whole limes
12 cups ice
Whole blueberries & sliced strawberries
Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl. Add 5-6 cups of ice, stir, and garnish with blueberries and sliced strawberries. As the party continues add more ice and fruit as needed. Yields 25-30 servings.
The Old Glory with Mark West Pinot Noir
3 oz Mark West Pinot Noir
2 oz Cola
½ oz Brandy
¼ cup blueberries and raspberries; mixed
Muddle and strain the fruit before adding to a cocktail shaker, leaving a few berries aside for garnish. Add remaining ingredients to your shaker. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass over ice. Garnish with remaining blueberries and raspberries. Cheers.
