We also learned that Afrojack lives just 20 minutes away from the venue in Rotterdam where he performed. We’re sure he’s super proud to have rocked his hometown stage because he seriously treated the crowd and everyone watching at home.
The iconic DJ was nominated for Best Electronic, and he had a pretty good chance at taking home the coveted award. However, he lost to Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, 20. But there’s no bad blood because Martin went right over to Afrojack when he won and they shared a sweet hug! In fact, he couldn’t stop clapping for his friend. What a good sport!
Afrojack is no stranger to the MTV EMAs — In fact, he’s an EMA veteran. The dutch DJ has been nominated since 2011 in categories like Best Dutch Act and Best Electronic among many others. He took home Best Electronic in 2014 and Best Dutch Act in 2012. So, he knows a thing or two about rocking the stage, and acceptance speeches.
He got his big break in 2011 when his hit, “Take Over Control” basically took over the world. To this day, it’s still played regularly in clubs, venues, restaurant and Hollywood hotspots. Since he shot to stardom he’s worked with top artists like Nicki Minaj, 33, Beyonce, 35, Pitbull, 35, Snoop Dogg, 45, David Guetta, 48, Madonna, 58, and many more!
