‘Saturday Night Live’ won’t be all politics on Nov. 5! The last show before the election will actually feature an appearance by some of the Chicago Cubs, who just won the World Series!
David Ross, the catcher for the World Champion Chicago Cubs, confirmed at the parade on Nov. 5 that “a couple of the guys” from the team will be heading to SNL for the Nov. 5 show. They plan on flying to New York City after the parade finishes! Of course, they are celebrating their first win in 108 years, so it’s been a long time coming.
This week will also feature host Benedict Cumberbatch taking the stage and musical guest Solange Knowles. With the election just three days after the episode, we know that Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon will bring their best impressions — and that the each candidate will tune in. Donald Trump was not so interested in Alec’s impression, saying it wasn’t funny, but Hillary Clinton was totally into Kate’s.
“They have these seamstresses, tailors, and designers literally on call to make whatever I was wearing so that Kate can wear it,” she told People. “And I was stunned by that when I was on SNL the first time back in ’08, I was shocked that I showed up and the suit I was wearing was the suit that, at that time, Amy Poehler was wearing. It was really funny!”
President Obama also spoke on Nov. 3, asking if people really want a president who spends his time stressing over SNL. “Anybody who is upset about a Saturday Night Live skit, you don’t want in charge of nuclear weapons,” he said. “No, I’m serious. This is a guy who, like, tweets, ‘They should cancel Saturday Night Live. I don’t like how Alec Baldwin’s imitating me.’ Really? I mean, that’s the thing that bothers you and you want to be president of the United States?”
