Southampton fell to Inter Milan on Oct. 20, 1-0, and while they’d love to seek revenge, they haven’t been able to prepare to meet I Nerazzurri (aka The Black and Blues). Since last they’ve met, the Italians sacked manager Frank De Boer, 45, according to BBC, which makes it hard for The Saints to scout their opponents.
“We don’t know what to expect from Inter now. We now have to show more concentration,” Southampton manager Claude Puel, 55, said, adding that it’s been “difficult to prepare” for this match. Injuries are also making it hard to prepare, as striker Shane Long, 29, and fullback Cedric Soares, 25, are riding this game out as they recover.
Inter Milan’s youth couch, Stefano Vecchi, 45, will take control of the team. He hopes he can get the job done, but knows he has the work ahead of his squad. “I had time to run a quick session and I have lost a few hours sleep analyzing my own team and Southampton,” he said.
There’s a good reason he’s losing sleep. The Saints have lost just one of their last 15 home games in European competitions. Plus, Inter are without an Away win in their last five games. A new boss with a difficult challenge? Things might just go horribly wrong for the Italians on this outing.
Who do you think is going to win this game, HollywoodLifers? Will the Saints be divine as they defeat Inter, or will The Black and Blues be golden and leave Southampton sobbing?
