Ben Zobrist was completely unstoppable for the Chicago Cubs and was named baseball’s most valuable player of the 2016 World Series. Congrats to the Chicago Cubs for the big win and bravo to Ben for the performance of a lifetime. Keep reading for all of Ben’s MVP stats and details.
What an incredible World Series. The Chicago Cubs and their fans had to wait 71 years since their last appearance in a World Series game and they faced a tough team from Cleveland in the Indians. There were stellar performances from players on both sides of the field including Jose Ramirez, Anthony Rizzo, Jason Heyward, Jon Lester and of course Corey Kluber. With so many talented pitchers, infielders, outfielders and sluggers, choosing a most valuable player in the World Series must have been a difficult choice. Ultimately however, after total domination on the field, the award went to a well-deserved Ben Zobrist.
Let’s take a closer look at Ben’s World Series stats. Ben hit the game-winning RBI-double that gave the Cubs the 7-6 lead in the 10th and helped them win the game! Amazing. This guy really stepped-up in October and completely carried his team to the championship and their first title in decades.
The World Series could have gone either way. The Indians won the first game at home and then the Cubs came roaring back to steal game 2 in Cleveland. From there it was all Cleveland. Thanks to superior pitching and big hits during key moments, the tribe took games 3 and 4 in Chicago. What a wild series. Congrats to all the players for making it to the 2016 World Series and remember that Spring training for next year is right around the corner.
