Is that you, Neil Patrick Harris? The former ‘HIMYM’ star completely transforms into Count Olaf for Netflix’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ and you won’t even recognize him. Click to WATCH the first trailer!
Count Olaf is not a nice guy nor a good-looking one. Neil Patrick Harris, 43, is playing the iconic children’s book villain Count Olaf in the new Netflix series, and he’s not holding back with his transformation. At all. He has a unibrow, a forehead that goes back for ages, menacing eyes, and rotting teeth. Neil’s definitely not channeling Barney Stinson in this role!
When the Baudelaire orphans — Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and Sunny — come face-to-face with Count Olaf in the trailer, they look terrified. “You haven’t the faintest idea,” Count Olaf spits at them. The show will follow the trials and tribulations of the children after they’re forced to live with their sinister cousin Count Olaf following the deaths of their parents in a fire.
“The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents’ mysterious death,” according to Netflix. Count Olaf is secretly plotting to steal their parents’ fortune. Count Olaf is called a number of nasty things in the trailer, including a “thief” and a “murderer.”
The books were previously adapted into a feature film starring Jim Carrey, Emily Browning and Jude Law. The first 8-episode season of A Series of Unfortunate Events, based on best-selling children’s novels, will premiere on Netflix on Friday, Jan. 13. It’s time to re-read the books before binge-watching!
