Reba McEntire has still got it goin’ on! Shaking off her heartbreaking divorce, the radiant redhead proved that age is just a number as she ruled the CMA stage on Nov. 2 with a tribute performance of ‘9-5,’ originally sung by Dolly Parton. Read all about it!
If you thought age and tough times were going to slow Reba McEntire, 61, down, think again! The red-headed firecracker wore a smile on her face from beginning to end at the CMA Awards, and was giving out such positive energy despite a few ups and downs in her personal life. Her performance of “9-5” was a tribute to the legendary country icon Dolly Parton, 70! The beautiful Dolly was all smiles as she clapped along to Reba’s performance, moments before claiming the Lifetime Achievement award.
As you may know, Reba went through a highly-publicized divorce in 2015 that not only shocked us, but caught her off guard as well. “The divorce was not my idea,” she confessed in an emotional interview with CMT Radio Live. “I didn’t want it in any shape, form or fashion. So it was really hard to make the adjustment.” Reba was married to Narvel Blackstock for TWENTY SIX years! Their divorce came on pretty suddenly, but they still remain close and even work together at Big Machine Label Group.
Moving onto more positive things, Reba was honored at the first-ever American Country Countdown Awards in 2014, which is a huge deal! The “Going Out Like That” singer walked away from the event with NASH Icon Award in her hands, which she received from good friend Kix Brooks. Icons like Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert honored Reba by performing a medley of her classic songs. There’s clearly so much love in the country music community, so we know Reba will be in good hands even if her divorce gets her down from time to time.
