Benedict Cumberbatch and ‘Saturday Night Live’ are finally meeting at last. Seriously, it’s about time. The ‘Doctor Strange’ channels his superhero alter-ego in the dramatic 20-second promo and realizes he’s got stage fright! Click to WATCH!
When Benedict Cumberbatch, 40, has that stare, you know something’s about to go down. “We meet at last,” Benedict says in the SNL promo. When the camera turns, he’s looking at the Studio 8H stage. The Nov. 5 episode is Benedict’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live, and he’s going to make sure it’s a night to remember. Benedict seems brave and confident at first, but when realizes what’s in store, he can’t help but utter an “oh, f–k.”
Let’s hope Benedict gets rid of his stage fright before Saturday night! With Benedict as host, SNL decided to forego the traditional promos that featured the host and a cast member, at least for now. The musical guest for Benedict’s show is Solange, 30!
Benedict is promoting his movie Doctor Strange, which comes out Nov. 4. The British hunk plays Dr. Stephen Strange, an arrogant former neurosurgeon who is drawn into the world of mystic arts. The movie also stars Rachel McAdams, 37, Tilda Swinton, 55, Chiwetel Ejiofor, 39, Benedict Wong, 45, and Mads Mikkelsen, 50.
Benedict revealed on Good Morning America on Nov. 1 that the special effects in Doctor Strange are breathtaking. “It’s extraordinary when you do these films because part of the special effects are the real world environments that Marvel creates around you,” he said. “But I tell you what. I saw this for the first time at the LA premiere and it is mind blowing. It is extraordinary what they’ve done. It just melts the real with the unreal in a kind of seamless way.”
