Was that Anthony Rizzo in the Chicago Cubs dugout, or Will Farrell? During a tense moment of Game 7 on Nov. 2, the Cubs’ first baseman dropped an ‘Anchorman’ quote that perfectly summed up how everyone was feeling. Click to watch.
“I can’t control myself right now,” Anthony, 27, told David Ross, 39, during an intimate moment during the final game of the 2016 World Series. “I’m emotional. I’m an emotional wreck.” Despite David trying to calm his teammate down, Anthony wasn’t having it. “I’m in a glass case of emotion.”
Hilarious – but also, true. This was the final shot for either team to win the World Series. For the Cubs, it’s been a 107-year-long drought for the Windy City squad. At the time of Anthony’s confession, Chicago was ahead of Cleveland but they still had a long way to go before the game was over. In the meantime, fans drew comparison between Anthony and Ron Burgundy with hilarious memes and tweets.
OH MY GOD ANTHONY RIZZO SAID HE'S IN A GLASS CASE OF EMOTION

Anthony Rizzo in a "Glass Case of Emotion"… pretty endearing. Gotta say. #WorldSeries

Anthony Rizzo: "I'm in a glass case of emotion right now."
I may have just become a bit of a Cubs fan.

It’s true. The Cubs ARE cursed — at becoming memes. So are their fans. If there were anyone who’d become a meme from this amazing World Series, it would be Bill Murray, 66. Bill is already practically a meme and he put his own spin on “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during Game 3 at Wrigley Field. The Chicago-native decided to sing part of the song as Daffy Duck, telling all those gathered to “spray it, don’t say it.”
Of course, Bill is no strange when it comes to being a sports meme. Sadly, when the Wisconsin Badgers defeated the Xavier Musketeers during the 2016 NCAA March Madness tournament, Bill’s heartbroken reaction was too much to handle! Bill, whose son Luke Murray, is an assistant coach for Xavier, couldn’t believe what he saw. Considering Bill, a die-hard Cub fan, hasn’t seen his team win a World Series ever, he’s kind of used to disappointment! One could say that Bill is also in a glass case of emotion.
What was your favorite moment of the 2016 World Series, HollywoodLifers? Did you think this was the greatest series in recent history?
