More Justin Timberlake music? Yes, please! Justin is finally taking a break from the big screen to give the people what they want! More MUSIC! Yeah, you didn’t think ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ was all we were getting, right? Find out about JT’s upcoming album plans and his brand new sound!
Justin Timberlake, 35, is not ready to stop the feeling, so he’s bringing sexy back with some new music! JT most recently released the best-selling single of 2016, “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” as part of the Trolls film soundtrack, and the catchy tune is already getting Oscar buzz. If we were graced with an entirely new album, that’d be amazing.
In a new interview with Variety, the Trolls actor revealed he was working on new music that’s quite different from the robotic, techno sounds of his 2013 album, The 20/20 Experience. “I wouldn’t say [my new material] is the antithesis of ‘20/20,’ but it does sound more singular,” he said. “If ‘20/20’ sounded like it literally surrounds your entire head, this stuff feels more like it just punches you between the eyes.” Bam!
Unfortunately, we aren’t really sure how long we’re going to have to wait for this new music. Justin has been busy promoting his latest animated film Trolls, filming a new movie with Woody Allen in NYC and being a father to his adorable one-year-old son, Silas. “I think everyone I’m working with right now knows I’m notorious for being like, ‘Yeah, let’s work. I have no idea when I’ll put it out, though.’ I’ll put it out when it’s done, when it feels right,” he said. Hmmm… a little vague there, Justin.
The *NSYNC alum broke out into the musical spotlight in the ’90s as a member of the Mickey Mouse Club and a contestant on Star Search. He released his debut solo album, Justified in 2002, which included “Cry Me A River” and “Rock Your Body” — for which he won Grammy Awards. He progressed into film in 2008, nabbing featured roles in The Social Network, Bad Teacher and Friends With Benefits. After releasing The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience – Part 2 in 2013, JT went on his 20/20 Experience World Tour, which officially wrapped in 2015. So, we don’t really blame him for wanting to take a break. It’s been a crazy few years — especially with all those Fallon appearances.
“My life has changed and is changing. So it’s important to discover that there’s work you can do where you get more time with your family,” Timberlake said. “I wouldn’t go on tour next week, because I wanna be with my son. I wanna be with my wife. What does touring even look like for me now? It’s such a luxury to be able to make those decisions: to be able to think about how you could do the work you used to do in a different way,” Timberlake explained. “As men, we’re always taught at a young age to be a man and have your priorities in order. And you get to a point where you’re like, ‘It’s not about “being a man” — it’s about fulfillment.’ Which is a totally different thing.” Well, JT, we’ll be here when you’re ready.
