Starbucks came out with a new green cup, Nov. 1, and the world can’t handle the fact that it’s not red! Although the company is starting the winter season with a new color and design, the cup does NOT symbolize their holiday collection like most people may think! Get the scoop here!
It’s officially the holiday season! Starbucks kicked off their seasonal beverages Nov. 1 serving their beloved classics — the Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, and Peppermint Mocha. Most customers were jumping with joy because not only were they able to taste their favorite flavors, but the buzzed about red cups were back! However, there was a bit of confusion when their supposed holiday drinks were served to them in green cups with unique designs.
“The green cup and the design represent the connections Starbucks has as a community with its partners (employees) and customers. During a divisive time in our county, Starbucks wanted to create a symbol of unity as a reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other,” said Howard Schultz, chairman and ceo. The cup is drawn by artist, Shogo Ota, and features a single line through the entire design. There are more than 100 people drawn in one continuous stroke on the creation.
BUT, get this — The new green cups don’t seem to be their signature holiday staple, but a public message of unity. And, Starbucks announced that these cups are only available exclusively in the U.S. for a “limited time while supplies last.”
SO, where are our holiday cups? Well, you may not have to freak out. There’s a potential sneaky explanation about the red cups that you’re never going to believe! Last week, on Oct. 27, Reddit user, “DasUberSquid,” posted this photo (below) to his account with the caption “I peeked.” — Business Insider pointed out. THESE red cups with branches and holly are reportedly the actual holiday cups that Starbucks is keeping under wraps, for now…
Apparently, the rumor floating around the internet is that Starbucks will unveil these red designs Nov. 10. But, for now, they are being delivered with a red “no peeking until Nov. 10” sign on the boxes. Different Instagram photos of the boxes in assumed Starbucks locations are going viral online! Business Insider also notes there’s a rumor that multiple red cups are on their way. Another Reddit user reportedly said that there will be at least three designs for the red cups. This is such a mystery, but it doesn’t make us love our Starbucks drinks any less! We’ll just have to wait until Nov. 10 to see what really happens.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think of the Starbucks rumors? Do you like the green cups?
