So exciting! Glamour just released it’s 2016 Women Of The Year list, and you’ll recognize a lot of the names. From Olympian Simone Biles to supermodel Ashley Graham, lets check out all of the honorees!
The list is here, and it’s chock full of incredible ladies! Glamour announced it’s 2016 Women Of The Year on Tuesday, November 1, and we are totally obsessed with their choices. For starters we have Gwen Stefani, 47, as “The Icon” — who is being celebrated for not just her lengthy music and fashion careers, but also the inner strength she shared with the world after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale in mid-2015.
Other celebrities being celebrated are model Ashley Graham, Zendaya, and Simone Biles. Oh, and how could we forget that Bono is their “Man Of The Year,” chosen for creating the Poverty is Sexist organization which aims to help women who are in serious financial trouble.
The three women who created the Black Lives Matter movement, Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi, are also being honored by Glamour. “We gave tongue to something that we all knew was happening,” Opal explained. “We were courageous enough to call it what it was. But more than that, to offer an alternative. An aspirational message: Black lives matter.”
“Emily Doe,” the victim of the Stanford University rapist, has also been chosen as an honoree this year. She has been chosen because of what Glamour calls her “take-no-prisoners” attitude while telling her side of the horrific story, shedding light on the seriousness of sexual assault and rape — despite the fact her rapist served less than 3 months in jail.
