Following her fall during rehearsal on last week’s ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ Sharna Burgess’ injury is more serious than she thought — so much so that she had to break the news to her partner she wouldn’t be dancing for a while.
“There is a possibility that Sharna and I have danced our last dance together on this season,” James Hinchcliffe, 29, said in a video obtained by TMZ. Of course he’s talking about last week’s jitterbug where they absolutely killed it, getting a score of a 36! Unfortunately though, she slipped on her dress during rehearsal of the group number, and fell on her knee — a knee she had previously had reconstruction on.
“I spoke to my doctor. I’m supposed to have three to six weeks off,” Sharna told James in the sneak peek of tonight’s rehearsal, adding that while has four weeks still to dance (three after tonight), he will dance with Jenna Johnson, the dancer who was partnered with Jake T. Austin but went home week two.
“I’m still there for you, but it’s gonna be Jen dancing with you for this one. I’m sorry,” she said, hugging him. Of course, he insisted she didn’t need to be sorry! Naturally it was tough for them to not dance together and for Sharna to walk away. “I know a thing or two about not rushing a recovery,” James said. “No matter what happens from here on out, the only reason I’m here is because of everything you’ve done, so you’re gonna be fine!”
Aww, we’re so bummed that Sharna’s hurt, but we know she’ll be back or be very involved going forward. “When I fell, it was pure panic. I’ve had an ACL reconstruction on that very same knee, so I was scared to death,” Sharna told People. “In that split moment, you think 1,000 things, but I got up and tried to figure it out.”
Do you think Sharna will be back?
