‘Dancing With The Stars’ got spooky, scary and sexy on Halloween, October 31! See the best dances of the night below!
Co-host Erin Andrews said the night was filled with “tricks, treats and tense competition.” The first round was Halloween themed, with the top scoring couple getting immunity from the elimination. The other couples must perform in a dance-off!
First up, Terra Jolé and Sasha Farber danced a Cha Cha to “Day — O” by Harry Belafonte from Beetlejuice. It was so sassy and amazing! “It was so fun…now I want to see you guys push a little bit more, a little more content, but other than that, way to set the tone for tonight,” Julianne Hough said. Bruno Tonioli said it could have been sharper but it was great. Carrie Ann Inaba said it was really good but we need to see great — it wasn’t surprising in any way. They got a 24 out of 30.
Next, Laurie Hernandez and Valentin Chmerkovskiy did a Viennese Waltz to “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. And I’m crying. Laurie’s joy was gorgeous! “That was a magical Halloween treat — sweet, rich, tender, actually you were so feeling it, it nearly brought tears to my eyes,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann WAS in tears and said, “your dancing was divine.” Julianne said it was a “childlike dream, enchantment.” They got a perfect 30!
Marilu Henner and Derek Hough danced an awkward Argentine Tango to “Sweet Dreams.” Last week was ROUGH with Marilu falling and ending up at the bottom of the leaderboard. “You look really confident but there were a lot of missteps. They are so tiny and I see how hard you’re trying,” Carrie Ann said. Julianne agreed, saying she was second guessing herself throughout. “Don’t doubt your partner. He knows what to do, trust him,” Bruno said.
Next, Calvin Johnson Jr. and Lindsay Arnold danced a Quickstep to “Dr. Bones” by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. Bruno said it was superb. Carrie Ann said Calvin reminds him of Emmitt Smith and that the dance was incredible. They got a perfect 30!
Then, Ryan Lochte and Cheryl Burke did a Tango to “Howlin’ For You” by The Black Keys. “It lacked some elegance and posture but there was a lot of content,” Carrie Ann said. They got a 23.
Jana Kramer and Gleb Savchenko danced Jazz to “Little Shop of Horrors” by Alan Menken. Julianne said it looked like a Broadway performance. Carrie Ann said it showcased her flexibility, for sure! Bruno said it was “high energy, high sparkle…it hit all the right spots.” They got a perfect 30!
Finally in the first round, James Hinchcliffe and Jenna (sitting in for an injured Sharna Burgess) danced a Viennese Waltz to “You Don’t Own Me” by Grace ft. G-Easy from Suicide Squad. “I know how hard it is to switch partners but it goes to show you are the real deal and you can dance with any partner,” Julianne said. Bruno said it was amazing and he delivered. Carrie Ann said it was beyond incredible and that he reminds her of Mark Ballas! They got a perfect score of 30, and since their cumulative score at this point was the highest, James got immunity this week!
For the second round, couples had to go head to head for three bonus points.
Laurie and Val danced against Calvin & Lindsay. They danced the Jive. Julianne said it was tight. Bruno said it was an epic battle. Carrie Ann said it was brave to go with someone else at the top. Laurie and Val took the extra points.
Jana and Gleb danced Salsa against Terra and Sasha. Julianne said this one was really tight, too. Sasha took his shirt off to match the half naked Gleb. Bruno literally did an upside-down split on the judges table! Jana and Gleb got the extra points thanks to America’s vote.
Marilu and Derek danced Cha Cha against Ryan and Cheryl. Carrie Ann said “there was one couple I couldn’t take my eyes off. Period.” Julianne said one couple seemed to play it safe. Bruno said one was precise while one was “randy.” Ryan and Cheryl got the extra points.
In the end, we had to say goodbye to Ryan and Cheryl!
