Mark Salling is not being charged for the alleged rape of a 22-year-old woman, according to a new report. The LA County District Attorney has reportedly rejected the case. Here’s why.
Mark Salling, 34, will not be charged with allegedly raping a young woman, because the woman waited too long to report the crime, among other important reasons, according to the LA County District Attorney. The woman, who remains unnamed, claims that Mark allegedly raped her four years ago, when she was a 22-year-old virgin.
The DA rejected the case, citing insufficient evidence, lack of corroboration, and the long delay in reporting the alleged rape, according to TMZ. If more evidence surfaces, the DA said that the case could be reopened. But for the time being, Mark will not be charged, and will not be going to jail for the alleged crime.
The woman filed a police report in April 2016, claiming that four years prior, she and Mark were about to have sex, and she told him “I don’t know if I can do this.” She claims that Mark tried to persuade her to have sex anyway, and gave her alcohol. Mark allegedly raped her as she told him “no,” according to the police report. The woman says that she blacked out, and woke up in the morning to Mark allegedly sleeping next to her. She alleged that she and Mark had consensual sex that same morning.
The allegations come just one year after Mark was charged with possession of child porn, and intent to distribute child porn. “Thousands of images” of children in sexually exploitative situations were allegedly found on Mark’s computer during a police raid at his home. Mark pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in July 2016. It’s possible that he may face serious jail time for that alleged crime.
