It’s one of the most brutal matches in WWE: Hell In A Cell! Three matches took place in the steel structure on Oct. 30, including the first ever women’s Hell In A Cell match. Did Sasha Banks retain her Women’s championship? Click to get all the details.
October 30 is often called “Devil’s Night” and the gates of Hell were open inside the TD Garden arena in Boston, Massachusetts, as the Superstars of the Raw brand went to war! The most anticipated match was that between Sasha, 24, and Charlotte, 30, for the WWE Raw Women’s championship. The first ever women’s Hell In A Cell match ended with Charlotte’s victory! We knew it was going to be epic when she went up top for a moonsault. Even though Sasha aimed for a powerbomb, she wasn’t able to pull it off! Charlotte eventually tossed Sasha onto the table twice, claiming her win!
This match may have finally settled things between “The Boss” and “The Queen.” Sasha first defeated Charlotte for the belt on July 26, becoming the then-only WWE Women’s Champion. The daughter of Ric Flair, 67, would get her rematch at SummerSlam on Aug. 21. Everyone thought Sasha would retain, but Charlotte managed to secure the title! After taking time off to recover from injury, Sasha returned an on Oct. 3, she defeated Charlotte to become a 2-time champ!
There were two more title matches decided inside the 20-foot-tall steel cage. Kevin Owens, 32, defended his WWE Universal Champion against Seth Rollins, 30. Seth has been out for revenge ever since his mentor, Triple H, 47, turned on him, causing Seth to lose the title to Kevin. With Kevin’s BFF Chris Jericho, 45, watching, these two went to hell and back. But Seth’s redemption wasn’t delivered on Oct. 30, since Kevin ultimately defeated him with an interference from Chris!
The WWE United States Championship was also decided in a Hell In A Cell match, as champion Roman Reigns, 31, sought to end his long-standing war with Rusev, 30. Roman took the belt off Rusev’s waist at Clash of Champions, but he wasn’t done with the Bulgarian brute just yet. Roman celebrated his epic win this evening, knocking Rusev off the steps and onto the mat. He pinned down his competitor, securing his position as your United States champion once again!
After the Raw superstars lick their wounds and recover from this devilish night, they better get ready. Survivor Series is set for Nov. 20, with Raw facing SmackDown in traditional Survivor Series elimination matches. On top of that, Bill Goldberg, 49, will face Brock Lesnar, 39, in a rematch 12-years in the making!
