Shannen Doherty sat down with Chelsea Handler on her Netflix show to open up about her emotional battle with cancer, and it’s almost impossible to hold back the tears! Watch the interview!
OMG! Shannen, 45, brought Chelsea, 41, and all of us to tears while talking about her courageous battle with cancer on a first look clip of the newest episode of the television host’s Netflix show, Chelsea.
“I think what’s beautiful and hard and interesting about cancer is that it tears you down and builds you, and tears you down and builds you, and remakes you so many different times,” the former Charmed star said of the effects of her diagnosis. “So the person that I thought I was going to be or that I thought I was six months ago, is now somebody completely different.”
The heartfelt interview continued with Shannen talking about how cancer changed her. “I really thought that I was so brave and so courageous this entire time, and really, I was just hiding. And I was…. Don’t cry,” Shannen abruptly paused mid-sentence. “Well, I mean, alright. Hold on a second,” Chelsea, who was trying her hardest to fight the water works by lifting her head back, said. Somebody hand us a tissue, stat!
#fbf to a very short bit ago. Day after #chemoday isn't always so great. Sometimes one isn't able to dance, or eat or even to think about the next day. Sometimes it just feels like you aren't going to make it. That passes. Sometimes the next day or 2 days later or 6 but it passes and movement is possible. Hope is possible. Possibility is possible. To my cancer family and everyone suffering…. stay courageous. Stay strong. Stay positive. #wegotthis. #fightlikeagirl

Shannen also went on to explain how cancer has made her reevaluate who she is. “So this was very hard and not humbling, because I’ve already been humbled by cancer,” she added. “But it was hard and just sort of rethinking this sense of who you are and how you come to terms with who you are now and accepting it.” This is SO emotional!
The actress, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb. 2015, has been very vocal about her journey. In Aug. 2016, Shannen revealed that the cancer had spread and she was undergoing chemotherapy followed by radiation. She followed the news by updating fans with images on her Instagram account of her shaving all of her hair off. While the 90210 star has admitted that having cancer is one of the most “horrible” things she’s had to endure, the actress often encourages herself and others in similar conditions to stay positive. “Hope is possible. Possibility is possible. To my cancer family and everyone suffering…. stay courageous. Stay strong. Stay positive,” she captioned a throwback picture of her in the hospital on Oct 22.
The new episode of Chelsea airs on Netflix on Oct. 28. Our thoughts go out to Shannen while she continues to fight cancer!
